He can spell

I am on the top of the world.
yeap!!!! happy, happy, happy
Khairi can now spell some words and do some simple maths.
It is a positive sign...... I don't care if other people can get many A's but my Khairi can read and that is good.
Last night we went for an ice cream and he gave sign that he want his ice cream with strawberry topping. Since he don't know the sign of strawberrry, he gave me the sign of color "red",I ignored him and acted as if I don't understand him. Suddenly, he start finger spell "red".
So now we will continues to play the spelling game this whole school holiday.....
Yes! this will keep us going for more...................

Its been a while since I last wrote. I was busy with commuting to a place that is about 1.5hr drive from home. I am trying alternative medicine that involve physio therapy to help controling his hyper active. So far I got positive feedback from some teacher in school and that keep me going. This Sunday is another day and I hope I will be strong for Khairi. I only want to give him the best that I can.

Wonderlust

Today I went to his school at 9.30 am and I cannot find him. Again he was wondering around and no one cares. I can no longer stay at his school with him as the teachers are not happy about it. As his mother I onlyhope this is not permanent and he will like his teachers again.

Teaching Him to Read

Last night I spent a few hours for him to remember and spell 7 days in a week. At the end of the day he only managed to spell 3 days correctly and I bet he is going to forget all about it tonight. He knows the sign of many things but he is not able to spell, which equal to not being able to read. His teacher has given up and I believe he is a smart young fella......just lazy.
I hope I can get help to motivate him. I am still reading and learning to handle him.......

Academic achievement

Today I went to school to see his teacher and take a look at his half year academic achievement. Despite all that I manage to talk to his class teacher. I hope she take it professionaly, or he will be kick out from school next week. I only asked for the teacher to highlight on his good quality as it has always been bad comment( she cannot mentioned even one to me).
I just want teachers to work together to nurture the child as well aseducating him. After all he is not even 8 years old.............
Enough about that this is just a mother being emotional.

Silent World

Are your world silent? Mine is not, but Khairi's world is silent. He was born deaf and I am creating this blog to share ideas with people who are dealing with deaf child. It is a sharing session as parent, educator or a deaf individual.
